For long-term, sustainable change, coaching is — by far — the most effective growth process.
Here’s how it works:
- Begin by designing and clarifying your vision. In other words, “What are you trying to create in your life and work?”
- Define your baseline: Where are you right now, with respect to your vision?
- Identify challenges and roadblocks: What do you believe is holding you back?
- Outline your action plan: Create a master vision, with no rigid plans, allowing for dynamic steering as conditions and circumstances change along the way.
- Build in accountability: Define milestones for working towards your highest priority, including accountability checkpoints with a predefined partner or support network.
Many of my clients choose to work with me in an arrangement I refer to as Strategic CounselTM.
Strategic Counsel is a blend of coaching, mentoring, and teaching, which has proven especially effective with nearly all of my clients whether I’m working 1:1 or in small groups. With this approach, I’m able to flow through each of these roles seamlessly in real-time response to your current challenge, desire, and level of understanding.
Strategic Counsel is effective for addressing a broad array of challenges, from clarifying your vision to effective communication, from understanding people to resolving conflict, from raising self-awareness to developing other-awareness, and much more.
According to the 2009 ICF Global Coaching Client Study, “companies that use or have used professional coaching for business reasons have seen a median return on investment of seven times their initial investment. Individual clients reported a median return on investment of 3.44 times their investment.”
