Leveraging Employee Strengths For Greater Results: One of my clients, the President of an oil & gas company, was guilty of wasting a lot of time mediating conflict between his two VPs. I took the team through a StrengthsFinder workshop and the insight gained allowed the VPs to develop a collaborative relationship, letting their unique value to rise to the top. Now, the President leverages the unique talents in each VP so the entire company is more productive.
The President said, “Laura, if this was the only thing you’d done for us over the last 18 months, working with you was an exceptional investment, but you’ve served us in so many ways, it’s hard to quantify your full value!”
Team strength results in meeting goal, on time AND on budget: Prior to a major chemical plant outage, I worked with a leadership team to outline the desired outcome, specific goal metrics, team responsibilities, and communication plan the Lead Team would use throughout the outage. As a result, they completed their outage on time and on budget, with no related unplanned events in the 90 days following the plant coming back online.
The Site Production Manager said, “An unplanned event could cost us anywhere from a few thousand dollars to several hundred thousand dollars, so the investment we made with you on this workshop was a bargain, even if you’d invoiced several times the fee!”
From the brink of failure to great success: Some of my 1:1 coaching clients come to me because they are on improvement plans at work. Two of those stories are a couple of my favorites! One went from being close to termination to having her best performance review ever and a significantly healthier relationship with her manager is just SIX months. The other not only turned things around, but became a long-term client sending every employee he promotes to work with me for leadership and support. The proof is in the pudding there!
